The White House and all the memorials are to the left but you can't see them from our room. We did however catch a glimpse of the White House on our boat cruise last night, and we certainly saw the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. Here's some more pictures:
Firworks started just at dusk and they were stunning. We took a few photos but they don't really do it justice. They went for about 20 - 30 minutes, were full of red white and blue and the crowds went wild!
The water was full of boats, the shores full of people and there were police and security everywhere, including helicopters with their big giant flashlight thingys scoping out the crowds. It was pretty wild how low they would fly down. It was an experience unlike anything else.
Today the boys are taking the Metro into Washington and are doing the Arlington Cemetary, the National Archives and the Monuments. I've decided to stay back and spend some quality time with the hotel pool. Yesterday I think it reached 99F here and I believe today will be the same. (That's SUPER hot in Celcius, by the way.) I'm looking forward to not moving much.
:)
Dear Miss Snazzy Shell,
ReplyDeleteI love your glasses, see much with them? We must thank you for your most informative talks on this tour. Never learned a thing. the pictures you took of the fire-works were "fab". Maybe the next blog will be better, that is if Dale or Dorian tell us about their travels Arlington etc. Lots of love, Granma & Granpa.
