And this marks the end of our road trip....

Here we sit in Minneapolis, our last night in a hotel after 18 days.  I tried to get the boys engaged in a conversation about what we learned on our vacation.  Here are their responses.

I will start with Dorian:

  • McDonalds is cheaper here than at home.
  • Mom and Dale are boring but not *that* boring.
  • I don't like sight seeing.
Here are Dale's responses:

  • My wife prefers a sunny beach to sight seeing.
  • It's impossible to excite a 14 year old boy.
  • I don't like New York City.
  • Washington was even more interesting than I thought it would be.
  • Famous Dave's deserves the title.
And here's mine:

  • Wisconsin cheese is very good.
  • I really DO drink more than Dale.
  • I CAN show shopping restraint when I want to.
  • As a family we seem to work better in the car than when we're out and about exploring a new city.
  • 2 weeks is long enough before I miss wearing heels.
  • There IS such a thing as the weather being "too hot".
  • "Lola" is a man.  (You know, the song by The Kinks?  I never really listened to it before.  Who knew.)
A little factoid for you:  so far we have spent $489.54 on gasoline, about $60 on tolls from Massachusettes to Illinois, and approximately a gazillion dollars on food (mostly to keep Dorian satisfied).

A VERY shocking factoid for you:  as of today I am coming home having bought only one (1) pair of shoes.

Something NOT very shocking:  Dale is coming home with a $5.00 t-shirt and a $7.00 baseball hat.

We really did not do much shopping on vacation mostly because we were so tight on space, but we are hitting up a Walmart and a Bath and Body Works in Grand Forks before heading home.

Hard to believe home is less than 24 hours away.

Home Sweet Home.
